Mwézé Ngangura

Mwézé Ngangura, born in 1950 in Bukavu (Democratic Republic of the Congo), is a Congolese filmmaker considered a pioneer of Congolese cinema. He studied film in Belgium and returned to Kinshasa in 1976. His first feature film, La Vie est Belle (1987), was a major success in the Francophone African world. Ngangura has also directed several documentaries and is internationally recognized for his contributions to African cinema.
