Alcaly, nicknamed “Demi-God,” is a wealthy pineapple farmer living with his five wives in a village in Côte d’Ivoire. When he meets Binta, a young and rebellious student, he decides to make her his sixth wife. But Binta sets conditions that turn the family dynamics upside down.

Henri Duparc

Henri Duparc (1941–2006) was a Guinean filmmaker who settled in Côte d’Ivoire in 1967. After studying cinema in Belgrade and Paris, he worked for the state film company SIC. His first film, Mouna (1969), was screened at the precursor of FESPACO. With his own production company FOCALE 13, he directed several successful films, including Bal poussière (1988), Rue Princesse (1993), and Caramel (2005).
